I made the mistake of downloading Netscape 6 today and looking at some of my web pages. Some of them look good but many of them are hideously disfigured. And I validate every page I create nowadays!

So I was wondering how much I really need to worry about certain older browsers and how much should I torture myself in order to make pages display in browsers that are sucky in the first place.

I could only add 10 poll choices so if I left out your browser why not post the name on this thread.

Other assorted comments about browsers and websurfing are welcome.

P.S. My favorite browser so far is Mozilla Firefox.

Mr Admin Sir, I thought your stats already told you what browsers were used to visit your site? Is that not so?
Or was it on the control panel of another website you were constructing (the one for your church)?
Or am I going  ???

My stats are not displayed as unambiguously as one would wish. Plus, this poll lets me know what browsers the "residents" are using. <_<

I am using netscape 7 and I never noticed any of your pages as hideously disfigured. I think I've been to all of them, but maybe not. I've been all over your store and your links to other sites and your links to web work.

Yes 2B, I test most of them in NS7 when I build them.

I found some interesting browser statistics on w3schools. And I don't see Netscape 6 in the results. This all started because I am having some alignment issues in the latest site I'm working on. I'll have to find a solution tomorrow. But it looks like I may not have to worry too much about NS6.

I also found a way to install multiple MSIE browsers on one installation of Windows.

Hi Vis, I use mozilla sometimes, and netscape some times, not as much as I use to for the same reason, to check sites, although I like some things about mozilla,
these days, just use ie, since its easy ...
I am always amazed how different pages can look, on the different browsers..
I check my site on macs too, at the coffee house, it also makes a big diff..

Me too. It gives me fits trying to make pages look good for everybody. I give up on the older browsers though. I'm considering creating a page redirects the users of ancient browsers to an explanation of why they should upgrade and how they can do it. It would be easy to do with php. I know some people build whole alternative sites for various browsers but I can barely build one site!

And I don't have access to a mac. I can't even think of any place that has one.
